Time in the market

Time in the market > timing the market.

This is true for investing but is it true for products? I see products that launch at the right time win big. There's a certain early movers advantage on cutting edge things.

Building such products need a certain hustle, being on the clock, all the time. My approach to building product is about spending time in the market.

When I search for blogging platforms on various platforms like X, Reddit, Google I see so many people building and launching blogging platforms. A lot of them are dead now. Unmaintained, uncared for. I believe products should last longer. Decades if not centuries. Unfortunately, internet products are ephemeral. Even online writing is ephemeral. It's easier to find and preserve 300 years old books. It's hard to find 10 year old writings on the internet.

There is certain something about the nature of the online world that makes people care less about longevity. I believe, we should care more about that.

I try to build products in a sustainable way. Recently, https://lykhari.com/ became profitable. Even though it makes so little money but I see no reason I would ever want to shut it down. If there is any advantage I will have on this product then longevity must be one of those.

If you are building products for real people, build sustainable products that can last a lifetime.
